Bohemian: The Husband.Age: 39
A very talented musician, wonderful friend, patient companion and compassionate human being. Oh, and he's also a night owl.
Bard: The Poet.Age: 16
Sweet, thoughtful, conscientious world traveler. Enjoys writing, playing piano, learning guitar, singing, and is a voracious reader. Bard can always be counted on to help around the house when it's needed.
Edison/Houdin: The Inventor/Illusionist.Age: 15.
Driven, motivated. Enjoys dressing well, earning money, doing magic tricks, listening to and performing music, Star Wars and reading.
Monet: The Artist.Age: 11.

i'm a homeschooling mom with five fantastic children living in rural o-HI-o. i have a passion for many things, including good books (buying more than reading...i have so many books, i have to use books for bookshelves), good food (eating and making), photography, learning, gardening (especially herbs), and music. my very best friend in the world is my husband. i'm totally blessed to have him in my life. i started blogging so that i could write about my daily goals, challenges and accomplishments, and to keep a record of what the kids and i learn on a daily basis.
I am a Visual Learner. I like to see things for myself, read the directions, and study the diagrams. I learn well through reading, and seeing pictures, models, and visual demonstrations. This is a wonderful first-person historical experience
Visitors can experience the life of the agrarian Separatists by visiting the ten restored buildings which are staffed with costumed interpreters and furnished with items made or used by the Separatists.
Our historic buildings offer a glimpse into the daily life of the craftsman and his family, the lessons of the one-room school, the distinctive home and office of the town's doctor, and the fascinating miniature displays of canal construction...
This is a beautiful Greek Revival farmhouse that sits just yards from the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. There are miles of trails to hike and beautiful waterfalls to visit. This house inspired the design for our home.
Beautiful park with a unique visitors' center. Very nice herb garden.
Absolutely gorgeous. The gardens alone are amazing, the house even more so. The grounds also hosts a Shakespearean Theatre, Madrigal Dinners, etc. One of our favorite photography spots.
One of the most interesting and unique galleries I've ever seen. Just walking through the door inspires me.
This is a link to Stan Hywet's website where they list a ton of very cool places to visit in Ohio. The ones I've listed above are places we've actually visited. Many of the places listed on Stan Hywet's website are very well known, but I haven't been to a lot of them. Check them out! Ohio is so AWESOME!
The National Inventors' Hall of Fame, with a museum dedicated to inventors as well as a floor full of hands-on fun.
The rainforest is a must.
A very unique hardware story, specializing in non-electric goods. From their website: "Homesteaders, environmentalists, missionaries, doctors in developing nations, and others living in areas where there is no power or unreliable power can rely on Lehman's."
Author Louis Bromfield created a living demonstration of progressive conservation practices. Malabar Farm State Park is the only working farm in the Ohio State Park system. The Big House was a very big inspiration for the design of our home. There are a lot of great activities at Malabar...a tour of The Big House, a hike to the top of Mt. Jeez, or squaredancing at the Heritage Barn Dance. Take a weekend and visit!
